Hi folks! I apologize for the delay in posting, but yesterday I was having trouble with an irritation in one of my eyes and decided to get some sleep rather than stay up and write one of these. Because of that I also decided to switch around a couple things on my list, so instead of the complex sugar cookie recipe I was going to do, I made another simple sweet treat with the Candy Melts. You can expect the cookies later in the month instead.
So this time around I was covering strawberries, which was perfect because we had some in the fridge that I didn’t want to waste before they went bad.
This was similarly simple to yesterday’s list item, and I found the idea from here.
Once again I melted my (now white) Candy Melts, and once again I failed at it. I’ve discovered that if you overheat them, they actually end up stiffening again, making it extremely hard to use as a melted dipping candy. But at the same time, before overheating it, I never experienced the silky texture of melted chocolate that I was expecting, so I’m not entirely sure what I need to be doing differently.
Regardless, I attempted the craft anyway, and made some chunky looking strawberry ghosts. With some… weird, kind of scary faces.
Yet another one for the “failed pinterest attempts” category.
(But they were still delicious. Duh.)
Today’s item on my list is actually a movie, so I’m not sure if I’ll be writing up a blog post on it. It’s available for streaming on Netflix and I’m really excited about it. It’s called “Nightmare Factory” — look it up and watch it with me and it’ll be like a movie club! 🙂
It’s actually a really good thing I just have a movie listed for today, because I’m going to an eye doctor for this stupid irritation, I plan on re-dyeing my hair, I have to start packing, etc. The next few days are going to be pretty busy for me, but I have some fun crafts planned for them. Then, starting Friday, I have some really simple papercraft decorations planned for a few days because I will be on an airplane and in another state for the entirety of next weekend (and then some). Then it’s back to California on Tuesday, and I’ll be starting to work on my Halloween costume during that week. So stay tuned! I promise to have many fun things to write about here.
And if you’d like to see video documentation of this journey, check out my YouTube channel! I post weekly vlogs, and my first weekly recap of my Thirty Days of Halloween list will be uploaded tomorrow.
Thanks for tuning in, folks!
